About Scott McNeely

Scott McNeely began his martial arts journey as a teenager in Hot Springs, Arkansas, under the instruction of GM Robert H. Hardin. Over the years, he became a nationally recognized competitor, earning numerous titles and mentoring many esteemed martial artists, including Black Belt Instructors, Masters, and Grand Masters.

In 2001, GM McNeely founded the World Taekwon-Do Alliance (WTA), an internationally respected organization endorsed by pioneers of Combat Taekwon-Do. His dedication to martial arts has taken him worldwide, including a decade as the Master Instructor for the Russian Taekwon-Do Federation. In 2005, he achieved the rank of 9th Degree Black Belt before a prestigious panel of Pioneer Grand Masters.

Beyond Taekwon-Do, GM McNeely has studied a variety of combat disciplines, including stick and knife training, ground fighting, joint locks, and military hand-to-hand systems. His experience culminated in the formation of the U.S. Combatives Training Group, offering reality-based training and stress-tested curriculum refined over 55 years of research.

A New Chapter: The Art of Resilience

In recent years, Scott faced an unexpected challenge: a diagnosis of Mantle Cell Lymphoma. While undergoing treatment about a year and a half ago, a student brought him a supply of colored pencils to keep him occupied while in the hospital.   He discovered and developed a remarkable talent for drawing. What began as a creative outlet has grown into a passionate pursuit, with heartfelt support from family and friends.

Proceeds from Scott’s artwork now help supplement his income as he focuses on recovery. Each piece reflects his resilience and creativity during this new chapter of life.
